No Guilt Halloween Festivities | Great ideas for getting rid of all that candy

Okay, let me just start by saying that Halloween is my least favorite holiday.  It’s the time of year I feel like I really take one for the team because I know I will have to deal with the repercussions of candy overload.  But the kids love the traditions, so I have figured out some…

The Best Mother’s Day Gift

We may not think gifts are necessary, but don’t our kiddos want to give us the best mother’s day gift?!  Mother’s Day is my favorite day of the entire year. Maybe it’s because of the gifts, or the fresh spring weather, but more likely, it’s the title. It’s one day I feel extra special because…

The 4th of July

Most years for the Fourth, we’re usually traveling, in or around the water, and we’ve blown half our grocery money on fireworks.  If not, it just doesn’t seem right.  Well, this year, we stayed home.  Didn’t travel anywhere.  Didn’t go to the lake.  Didn’t buy any fireworks (I know, almost un-American).  But all was…

Remembering the Cost

For the past few Memorial Days, we’ve taken our kiddos to a small cemetery in Maple Plain, MN because we think it’s important that they understand that Memorial Day is not just an extra day off of school, a day to grill burgers and hang out at the lake.  It can be that too,…

My Favorite

Mother’s Day.  This has got to be my new favorite day.  I love it.  I just love waking up that day.  (Yes, that means there are days when I don’t love waking up.  Come on.  Don’t judge.  If you’re being honest, you feel it too ;)  It just helps me put everything, my mess,…

B L O G

My goal is to be a home-maker.  But honestly, I have too many interests, and way too little time.  My mental to-list is always full.  I have projects lined up from before my oldest son was born... He's 11!  I often feel disappointed in myself for not "getting anything done," and then God taps me on the shoulder and shows me that my perspective is so small.  What is my priority?  By His grace, I am reminded of the big picture.  My priorities are my husband, my home, my children.  Ohh, the children.  I want to, "teach them diligently when we sit in our house, when we walk by the way, when we lie down, and when we rise up."  Deuteronomy 6:4-9  Regardless of what's on my to-do list, I am choosing joy in the everyday mundane.  I believe, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." 3 John 1:4  So here I share with you what I'm learning about keeping the home while raising little ones, hoping together we can be accountable, day by day, choosing joy, with the right focus.  "Whatever ye do in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord." Colossians 3:17

Here we go!  One day at a time.

Focus.

It's all about perspective.
