Queen for a Day

Last year, my dear friend sent me a birthday card with a fancy ribbon/pin attached to it that read, "Queen for a Day." I forgot to actually wear it that day, so I couldn't just throw it away. I saved it, of course, for this year. And boy, did it work. I wore it ALL day and was treated as such, ALL day. (I should sport it a few more days out of the year ;)  It makes a difference when the words are right in front of them as a visual reminder ;) ;)

I started out my special day with a training run. (My first triathlon is in a few months). Unfortunately, I got caught in a thunderstorm, so I came home drenched. All I wanted to do was jump in a hot shower, but the boys had made me some hot tea (taking a break from coffee to see if I feel better) and breakfast. Couldn't pass that up, so excuse the 'drowned rat' look. Still felt special. After breakfast, my tea, and a hot shower, we were off for a day of treasure hunting. My day. I get to pick. No complaining. Simple as that. And so it was :)

We were greeted by these little guys right away. They were full of energy, happy, rowdy, naughty, little pups. They fit right in (gave Steve and I a good chuckle)! And they were kind of the highlight of the morning.
No boys were harmed in this photo. We rescued him right away, and reprimanded the dogs. I do have to say that I don't believe I've EVER heard Owen laugh so histerically. I mean, he would have been rolling on the floor laughing but he knew the pups would pounce on him next. Reminds me of my older brother…  It was funny though.

It turned out to be a wash (pun intended ;). We drove about an hour to get there and I think there were six vendors :/  So I tried to make the best of it.
Thought for my birthday they would sit nicely for a pic... nope. So these will be at each of their weddings ;)
...and who locks the toilet paper dispenser - - in an outhouse?!

We came. We saw. We got pounced on. We headed for home.
But not before we stopped at a little barn sale!!!
It was super cute, and I did get a treasure - a little side table
which I forgot to take a picture of ;)

A few photos with my zoo crew before the party :)
It was a quiet, rainy, enjoyable, day. And I loved every minute of it.
